United Way agency nearly hits its goal

By Casey Santee - Journal Writer

POCATELLO - The United Way of Southeastern Idaho has nearly reached its 2003 fund-raising goal of $625,000.

As of Monday, the organization had raised $607,736, or 97 percent of the goal.

The theme of this year's drive, which began in September and will continue through December, is "What Matters."

"We're very pleased about the numbers that have come in from local businesses," said Laverne Beech, campaign coordinator for the United Way. "The results tell us that the employees stepped up to help people in need and to help us meet our goal."

All donations to the United Way are distributed to local nonprofit agencies serving people in Bannock, Power, Caribou, Franklin, Oneida and Bear Lake counties.

Donations to the United Way of Southeastern Idaho can be made directly by calling 232-1389, or by stopping by the United Way office at 214 E. Center St. They can also mailed to P.O. Box 911, Pocatello, ID, 83204.
