Emergency Medical Volunteers for Israel

APF is the sole organization designated by the State of Israel to maintain an Emergency Medical Volunteer Registry. In the event of a national crisis in Israel our registry will be called upon to provide necessary manpower to the civilian hospitals. We are honored and humbled that the State of Israel has chosen our organization as the official registry in North America to come to the aid of Israel in the time of crisis.

We encourage physicians, nurses and other health care professionals to register for the Emergency Medical Volunteer Program. Volunteers are specifically needed in the following medical specialties:

  • Anesthesiologists
  • Cardiothoracic medicine
  • Surgeons
  • Pediatric ICU
  • Respiratory ICU
  • Plastic Surgeons
  • Operating Room Nurses
  • Pediatric ICU Nurses
  • Dialysis Nurses

While it is the hope that this network will never be utilized and that Israel will achieve true peace, reality requires that we be prepared for any threat. During times of crisis, the need for emergency specialties increases because

  • the number of patients injured or wounded rises dramatically
  • the specialized manpower in Israeli hospitals is depleted as staff physicians are called to military duty. Medical volunteers are needed to serve the civilian population at the health care facilities around the country.

The State of Israel will provide Emergency Medical Volunteers with travel, housing arrangements and insurance.

The American Physicians Fellowship for Medicine in Israel is a non-profit organization of Jewish physicians and other health care professionals dedicated, since 1950, to advancing the state of medical education, research and care in Israel.
