Connor's Saving Grace
Patrick Harvey
Neighbours star Patrick Harvey
Connor thinks his prayers have been answered when he receives a letter from his mother with a secret family beer recipe enclosed.
The recipe could be the special ingredient that will allow Connor to stay in the country permanently.
Patrick Harvey who plays Connor, described how Connor felt when he received his mother's letter.
"He feels like he just won the lottery, because he has been told that if he can find a special skill that separates him from the rest of the other applicants at the pub, then he can get citizenship," he said. "He thinks that it's pretty much the best one, because he works in a bar. It's an old recipe that has done pretty well in Ireland and apparently it also brews faster than any other beer that he knows about. He is obviously very happy."
When asked whether Connor had any reservations about brewing the beer, he said,
"I'm sure he's pretty certain that he has a good chance, because he knows how good it is and it can brew very quickly, which will cut down on waiting around for it. I think he would be fairly confident, but at the same time, he may be a bit worried that someone else could have the same thing."
Although Connor is optimistic, he hasn't had any previous experience in the art of brewing beer.
"He hasn't had any experience brewing beer," laughed Patrick. "But obviously his grandparents have. Once he buys the brewing kit, he'll be alright!"
In real life, Patrick has never brewed beer himself, but his father used to be a dab hand at it.
"My Dad did it in Ireland," he said. "He brewed it and I saw just how much sugar is in it. He poured in packet upon packet upon packet of sugar. It was enough to put me off and people complain about kids eating sweets! So, no, I haven't done it myself, but I must try it sometime."
Hopefully Connor's beer will be a success, as many people will miss him dearly if he has to leave.
