Izzy's Accusation
Natalie Bassingthwaighte
Neighbours star Natalie B
A tipsy Izzy couldn't just let Susan ignore her as she walked on by. Instead she confronted Susan, accusing her of setting the Neighbours against her. Natalie Bassingthwaighte, who plays Izzy explained,
"Izzy has a confrontation with Susan, where she feels that everybody is blaming her for the Kennedy's marriage break up. She's sick of it, because she feels as though she has done nothing wrong," said Natalie. "She has befriended Karl, but there hasn't been anything romantic going on. Izzy is a bit tipsy and confronts Susan in an abrupt way, She lets it all out there. She probably makes a fool of herself."
When asked what she thought Izzy was trying to achieve, Natalie answered,
"I don't think she even really knows. It wasn't a planned thing," she said. "Susan walks past and ignores her and she just blurts stuff out. She's upset, because a week before, Susan came to her for advice. She didn't want to achieve anything; she just laid it all out there."
Susan gave Izzy a mouthful, laughing at her for being upset just because a neighbour snubbed her. Also, Susan highlights the fact that Izzy's upset pales in comparison to Susan's pain of losing Karl, her husband for over 30 years.
"I actually think that she feels quite bad," said Natalie when asked how Izzy felt after Susan's retort. "It's always about her! I think she takes it on board and thinks 'How dare you!' It feels like a slap in the face, because she find it hard to deal with the truth."
However, Natalie doesn't think that Izzy's confrontation was the right thing to do.
"No, how horrible," she said. "I have to kind of understand her, because I play her. She's just a bit hurt and she just wants people to like her, because she thinks she is a good person."
Maybe one day the people of Erinsborough will think so too, however, Izzy has a lot of ground to make up before then.
