  Animal Testing
Why does animal testing take place?
British law says that any new drug used for medicine, must be tested on at least two different types of live mammal. One of these must be a large non-rodent type animal.
Does it work?
Animal testing has helped to develop vaccines against diseases like measles, rabies and mumps.
Are the animals hurt during testing?
Laws protect all lab animals from cruelty during testing.
Are there any alternatives?
How do I know what products have been tested on animals?
Organisations like the RSPCA and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have lists of companies who do and don't test products on animals.
