This goes right along with the "I say we get rid of the Off-Topic Discussion." thread in the MVP Private Discussion section, in my mind.  As I said in there, personally, I think there should be MORE off-topic areas--obvious places for people to discuss the crap we don't really want to have to read about in other areas hehehe. 

Let's add an "Other Consoles" area, state that all posts about XBOX, GC etc go in there, and move those topic threads there if people post them in other areas.  When you start mandating exactly what people can talk about--especially something as closely related to "PS games" as "XBOX games" is--you really start making your board seem like it's run by a bunch of elitist jerks. 

Let the people who own other systems stay here, post about their other systems' games in special off-topic areas.  This helps make sure at least some of their interest stays on PS/PS2 games.  The more those people go to or feel forced to go to other boards, the more they are likely to lose some interest in PS/PS2.

Unfortunately, idiots are everywhere, on every board, and it's very hard to get rid of every one of them without making yourself look bad.  There's such a thing as taking anything too far, and once you start limiting things more and more, you run the risk of eventually turning yourself into a "message board Nazi" hehehe. 

One other board I'm on, if someone new comes on and posts anything that could even be considered as outside of the "rules", a mod will immediately ban them--no if's, and's or but's.  It helps keep control on things, and there's really no problem with crap posts or users on there, but as time goes on we also seem to hardly ever get any new members.  I wonder sometimes how many of those banned members might have turned into worthwhile community participants on that board, if they had been given a more freindly welcome to begin with, yaknow?  I'd hate to see anything like that happen here, and once you start making certain things "off limits" as topics, you start going down that road.
