ARIA may release a Top 100 each year, based on sales, but the Triple J Top 100 is a true indication of changing musical styles and credibility, based on a huge national audience of listeners. There's always a great mix of international and Australasian tunes and this year the Aussies dominated the higher rankings with strong performances by Grinspoon, Machine Gun Fellatio, The Vines and 1200 Techniques. This is the true indication of what young Australians consider to be cool and a quick glance at the tracklisting provides an explanation for the cutting-edge sounds of Australian bands; Aussies have very good taste!
