Council Members

Yves Gingras Yves Gingras is the director of the Centre inter-universitaire de recherche sur la science et la technologie (CIRST) and a professor in the history department at l'Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). One of the co-founders of the Observatoire des sciences et des technologies and a past editor of the journal Scientia Canadensis, he is an acknowledged expert in the area of the politics of science and technology in Canada. He has authored many publications in both French and English on the subjects of history, the evaluation of research and the sociology of science. He has appeared on the programs Les Années-lumière, Le Point and Le Téléjournal of the French-language CBC network, and is a former recipient of a SSHRC award and other grants. He obtained a master's degree from Université Laval and a PhD in history and the socio-politics of science from Université de Montréal.
