Louisiana Court Strikes Down Anti-Gay Constitutional Amendment (October 04, 2004)
Louisiana state District Judge William Morvant today struck down the state's recently enacted anti-gay constitutional amendment. Judge Morvant ruled that the amendment was flawed because it had more than one purpose.

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation’s 3rd Annual GLAAD OUTAuction NYC2004, presented by Bud Light, will celebrate emerging and established local artists on Sunday evening, Nov. 7, 2004 at the Altman Building in New York. The evening will feature a silent auction as well as a live auction hosted by Susie Essman, star of HBO’S “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

Alabama Judge Refuses to Bar Public From Scotty Joe Weaver Murder Case (August 31, 2004)
Local and national gay rights groups responded Friday, July 27, to a Baldwin County, Ala., judge's decision not to seal the record or bar the public from court proceedings in the capital murder case against three defendants accused of robbing and killing openly gay teenager Scotty Joe Weaver.

GLAAD's Glennda Testone: "It's important that the media examine the Republican platform's call not just for an anti-gay constitutional amendment, but also for the denial of civil unions and basic protections to gay and lesbian families."

Preliminary Hearing in Alabama Murder of Scotty Joe Weaver Set for Aug. 27 (August 20, 2004)
A preliminary hearing for those charged in the brutal July 18 murder of openly gay Bay Minette, Ala., teen Scotty Joe Weaver is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27 at the Baldwin County Courthouse in Bay Minette.

GLAAD's Announcing Equality Project Marks Two-Year Anniversary with 504 Inclusive Newspapers (August 18, 2004)
Marking the second anniversary of its Announcing Equality Project, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) announced today that the number of U.S. newspapers that accept same-sex wedding or union announcements has climbed to 504, a more than seven-fold increase in just two years
