Bishop Richard Sklba

Milwaukee Auxiliary Bishop Richard J. Sklba was elected the chairman-elect of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Committee on Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs at the annual meeting in Washington, D.C.

Bishop Sklba's wealth of experience and involvement make him an ideal fit for this chairmanship, which is seen as the chief ecumenical officer of the Catholic Church of the United States. Bishop Sklba has led the Evangelical Lutheran-Roman Catholic dialogue as co-chair for the last six years and also worked on the Orthodox-Catholic bishops' dialogue.

According to Bishop Sklba, the Holy Spirit guides the ecumenical dialogue. "The Spirit works through events and people in good ways."

Read more about Bishop Sklba's role in Sam's Lucero's article in this week's Catholic Herald.
