ARTHUR'S SEAT AND THE LEGACY OF JAMES HUTTON
Take a trip through 350 million years of history - see the great (and now extinct!) Arthur's Seat volcano and the geological formations of Salisbury Crags.

Rare plants and insects can be found in the park and it is home to important wintering populations of wildfowl such as bitterns. Fulmars nest in Salisbury Crags.

Getting there:
By foot:
From central Edinburgh, walk to the bottom of the Royal Mile, turn right and you will see the car park and start point ahead of you.

By car: Drive to start point, (see map) parking available in the free car park.

Walk conditions
Initial path is tarmac and becomes compacted earth/stone that can become muddy after rain. Gentle climb to halfway point. Descent down the Radical Road is often steep - watch your footing!
