One of the toughest problems you will ever run into when trading used equipment is the rating systems that people use. Rating equipment is highly subjective, and to make matters worse people often don't use a standard system of rating. What I've put together here is a resource which will hopefully help everyone understand used equipment ratings, and what they are supposed to mean. Shutterbug ratings from the Shutterbug Magazine classified section are considered "the standard" rating system, using a range of Ugly to Mint. An excellent general guideline to rating used equipment. Some people prefer to rate equipment on a scale from
1-10. There is no standard numerical system, though B&H's system is
often used as a guide by those who prefer the number system. The above
link takes you to my interpretation of the numerical system. Just as a
side note, most used equipment I've seen traded falls in the 7+ to 8+ range.
