Absolutely love the site! It's amazing how cool raw numerical data can be isn't it? I just noticed a few things while seeing some old episodes again:
1. Lorne sang "I will survive" in Judgment before he sang "I'm so excited"...shouldn't the first few lines he sang ("I was afraid" etc.) be his first line of the series?
2. I rewatched Becoming Part 1 recently and it seemed as if Angel had more lines in that episode than the score you said he had (41). I checked the transcript on Buffyworld.com and according to that he has 41 lines as *Angelus*, but 12 more as Liam from the flashback with Darla and 17 more as Angel from the flashbacks with Whistler and the Gypsy, giving him 70 lines in total instead of 41.
3. Also, Angel did speak in "Faith, Hope and Trick"...3 lines ("I loved you," "Go to hell," and "I went there")

Not that im complaining, but were you going to do sections on any more characters? I seem to remember you were going to do a section for jenny, and i would love to see secions for other characters....

Ocipital:
Yes I'll be adding some bare bones (not as detailed with graphs and the like) for several more charcaters. Right now i'm thinking Warren, Jenny, Principal Snyder, Kate and Lindsey. They all have a decent number of lines, and have appeared in more than one season. I might well add very basic character profiles for the remaining characters in the Jossverse top 50

As I mentioned before, I too like to collect data just so I can have something to analyze. I specialize in collecting best film lists and combining them into a composite best film list. I recently decided to do the same with lists of the best and worst episodes of Buffy when I realized that I could combine that analysis with the data from your site to figure out which characters are most associated with the quality of the episodes. I rank the characters based on how much they contribute to the quality of episodes (or lack thereof) at www.phi-phenomenon.org/buffy/characters. There are links to other analyses on that page.

My analysis puts a new spin on the games. It is possible that some of the players might have a different strategy than simply trying to amass the most lines. Riley may score big time with 99 lines in As You Were. However, this means that he gets much of the blame for the unpopularity of that episode. The best players in that game may be Tara and Giles, who avoided that episode entirely.

Ocipital:
Wow this is wonderful. and a very intresting read. I've put up a link to it on the main page.

This site rules, obviously. Have you guys thought about plotting the AtS Sky One/Nielsen ratings?

Ocipital:
Hey Keyser.

The problem with plotting the AtS Sky One ratings is that it hasn't consistantly been one of the top 10 rated shows on Sky like Buffy was, which makes the info more difficult to find. The show has improved somewhat however, season 3 scored only 7 entries into the top 10, but every season 4 episode save The House Always Wins made the top 10. The ratings that can be measured are about 20% lower than Buffy

I love the graphs of line counts.

One error: In the Angel linecounts you mention an episode called "Faith, Hope and Mr. Tricks". It's actually called "Faith, Hope, and Trick".

Ocipital:
Grr. Smacks Northern Monkey, and sets him to work on actually doing something. Cheers for spotting that, there is in all liklyhood other references to this episode, I always refer to it wrong.

Wow great site! Although i do have one question about how you measure lines....when some one says a line twice, does both times count as a seperate line, or are they treated as one? As far as i know this has happened 4 times-
-on 'Storyteller', when xander and anya speak and get recorded by andrew, who then plays back what they said.
-on 'Same time same place', when spike talks to willow then says the same thing to buffy and xander.
-on 'The weight of the world', when willow walks in on the conversdation between buffy and the first slayer that took place during 'I was made to love you.'
-on 'hero' when cordy records doyles commercial, they watches it at the end of the episode.

Also, please bring back your reveiws of season 7 episodes if you can....thanks

Ocipital:
It counts twice, its treated as a flashback. The only time them showing clips from the previous episodes are treated any differently than any other scene, is if they feature a character who does not speak, and does not appear in the rest of the epiosde. As doing so would mean creditting characters such as Joyce, Harmony, Jenny etc for appearing in an additional episode, when the clip of BBB was used in Him.

I hope to have the ep 7 reviews back up shortly, Theres a few things that have changed in the summaries because if the change in rules that I need to straigten out. This is nearly complete.

I was hoping to have the entire site finalised, and bug free before the start of Angel season 5, but I dont think Im going to be able to fit the Writers leagues before then

Hi again,

I had some spare time and made a php-script (for now only for the "Top 50"-pages)

http://www.raidri.de/_LineLeague/Test.php

Technical stuff:
The pages are about 14kb big (your word-files over 200kb) and generated by two
php-scripts (one for header/footer, one for main-area) and one data-file (cvs-format).

Greetz,
Raidri

Ocipital:
Thanks so much for these. I'll have to get back to you on there usefullness.

There may well come a point where I need to make the files smaller, but we have no bandwidth limitations on this server, and enough space left for what is planned. It is actually simpler to re-edit the MSWord created files to reroute some of its pointless space wasting ideas (such creating duplicate copies of the same jpg for every single page, eg the Banner). For now space is not an issue, and i've not sufferered an unbearible delay in loading a page (and im on dial up).

Ocipital:
Ok I've given Northern Monkey a smack, and he assures me he'll make time to redo my dodgy programming. So hopefully these bugs will disapear
