Sports games lit up the sales charts in February, lead by the infamous debut of Gran Turismo 4, a game that was destined for the number one spot practically as soon as it was announced. Counting driving games, a full eight spots of the twenty top-selling games in February were sports titles--including new entries such as NBA Street V3 and MVP Baseball 2005. Perennial sales powerhouse Madden NFL 2005 dropped only two spots in February and still managed to hold on to a top-10 sales finish, six months after its release date. Also of note was the continued strength of another EA Sports title: NBA Live 2005, a game that's still moving units well into 2005.

Major League Baseball may be about a week from kicking off its 2005 season, but the last console baseball game of the year, Nintendo's Pennant Chase Baseball, will likely miss Opening Day by a long stretch. The game, originally slated for an early April release has been delayed to June 13.
This isn't exactly surprising news, namely because the only information we've seen of the game so far has been a press release and a handful of screens of the game. Still, with MVP Baseball 2005 already enjoying a sizeable head start on the GameCube, Pennant Chase will have an even steeper uphill climb when it hits store shelves. What's your take? Will this delay result in a better game or just a lack of interest from sports gamers
I had a strong sense of deja vu last night, while checking out my brand new PSP. The reason? I spent most of the evening playing NFL Street 2 Unleashed, a game that is nearly as direct a port of the console football game as you can imagine. Sure some things were stripped out of the handheld game, namely a large portion of the audio and the Xzibit-hosted tutorial videos, but for the most part the game plays eerily similar to the console versions of the game. Some things are new for PSP however, including a number of mini-games (one of which is a dance competition. No I'm not making that up).
If you haven't played the PSP version of Street 2, check out our review. The short version? If you've already played and tired of the Xbox, PS2 or GameCube version of the game, you won't be finding a lot that's new in Unleashed.
