overviewabout

Our mission is to create healthy Asian and Pacific Islander communities in the Washington, DC area through four goals: outreach, education, advocacy, and research.

We believe that to be healthy is a basic human right and that every person must have access to needed health services.

We believe that our work should be sensitive to the language and cultures of the people with whom we work, be collaborative, and approach the needs of our community in a comprehensive, holistic way.

APIPH was founded in 1993 to address HIV/AIDS in the gay Asian community in the District of Columbia. Since then, we've expanded our work to work with all Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities in the DC area.

We have several projects to help improve the health of the API community, specifically through providing HIV prevention services, improving access to health care, and offering information about reproductive health and mental health.

In keeping with our holistic view of healthcare and a supportive network of services, we realize that we cannot do this work alone. APIPH is committed to collaborating with funders and partners to achieve our mission.
