Chinatown Dragon Lights Sparkle Thanks to SFPUC Crews 07/01/2003

Workers from Hetch Hetchy Water & Power of the SFPUC and the Bureau of Building Repair from the Department of Public Works (DPW) have teamed up to clean the glass lenses and repaint the Dragon Lights in Chinatown. This is part of the neighborhood improvement work carried out by various city agencies in an effort to spruce up the community. Once the fourteen Dragon Lights are painted, the SFPUC crew will proceed to clean the lenses. The DPW crews are responsible for painting the lights with funding provided by the SFPUC.

City representatives from various agencies will report on their accomplishments on the Chinatown Summer Clean Up effort in a press conference at Portsmouth Square for the Chinese Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, June 28th.   "The SFPUC is ahead of its schedules on its commitments to this campaign," said Theresa Burke, coordinator for SFPUC in this endeavor.

Crews from DPW Street & Sewer Repair will inspect and clear catch basins in Chinatown as the final step in the clean up.
