About Us Projects + Plans Environment At Your Service

In 2005, the SFPUC will continue the historic rebuild of the Hetch Hetchy water delivery system that will repair, replace and seismically upgrade more than 200 miles of aging pipelines and tunnels, reservoirs and dams. We are also embarking on a $150 million short-term sewer capital improvement program to address San Francisco’s flooding and urban wastewater odors.

To begin long-deferred capital improvements and address increasing costs associated with operating and maintaining our water and wastewater systems the SFPUC is proposing a water and sewer rate increase and a new sewer rate structure that will go into effect July 1, 2005 and July 1, 2006.

On March 22, 2005, the members of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission will consider adopting an increase in water and sewer service charges for 2005-06 and 2006-07.
