Opening Prayer

Lord God, we ask you to hear the prayer of our family. We thank you for the gift of the life of Pope John Paul II. We thank you for the ways his life and his words have reminded us to always keep you, Our God, at the center of our family. We are grateful for the many ways Pope John Paul II was a leader and a servant to the Church. May we honor his memory by praying together as a family often and by our kind words to each other in our home. The love for Jesus Christ burned brightly in the holy life of Pope John Paul II. May that same light shine in our lives especially in our acts of love toward others. Amen.

Lord God, hear the prayer of our family. We thank you for the life of Pope John Paul II and the years he guided our Church with wisdom and compassion. We ask you, Lord, to bless our family and strengthen our faith to be a witness to the world of your love, the way that Pope John Paul II was to us. We pray that his soul rests in the peace of your everlasting love. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
