     Respect Life Conference
 
  The Office of Catholic Social Action extends an invitation to adults and teenagers to attend the Respect Life Conference sponsored by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. The registration deadline has been extended thru October 24, 2005. Contact us at 414-769-3366 if you need to register after the deadline.

This year’s conference will be held at the Archbishop Cousins Catholic Center, 3501 S. Lake Dr., St. Francis, WI on Friday evening, November 4, 6:00 – 9:00 pm and Saturday, November 5, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Retreat rooms have been reserved for individuals who wish to stay overnight. (Room rates vary; please see reservation form.)

Archbishop Dolan will preside at 11:00 am Mass on Saturday, with music led by Jeffrey Honore from St. Matthias Parish.

Our keynote for Friday evening is “Stem Cell Research and Ethics” by Richard Doerflinger, USCCB Deputy Director, Secretariat for Pro-Life Activities, followed by a Social and Reception to celebrate the Love Life Library’s 20th Anniversary. There is no fee to attend Friday evening, however registration is required. Free will donations will be accepted.

15 educational sessions are being offered throughout Saturday, including a track geared for teens and those who love them. Saturday morning begins with a keynote for “Our Vision and the Tools to Get Us There” by Greg Schleppenbach, the Director of Pro-Life Activities, Nebraska Catholic Conference, with a focus on organizing effective Respect Life Committees.

Registration for Saturday is required, and the fee is $30 per person (light morning refreshments and lunch is included). Reduced rates are available for students, seminarians, and married couples.

Persons wishing to build or strengthen a Respect Life Committee within their parish community will have the opportunity to network and participate in group activities and meet with Respect Life leaders from the area Saturday afternoon.

Parishes and high schools are highly encouraged to send at least one representative to attend the conference.
