I set out really early for this one. In fact, it was only just getting light when I reached the track that winds around the mountain to reach the cairns. It was also extremely foggy! and the cloud was very low, so the spectacular views afforded here were denied me. Actually, I don't think this was a particularly bad thing as it allowed me to fully concentrate on the tombs I went to here.
There are many cairns here, a good number of which are amazing in their own right and you would travel a long way just to see one of them, but when there's around 20 to visit then the place is a must visit location.
Because my partner and muse had decided to accompany me (a very special treat for me!) I thought I would treat her to Carrowkeel. The weather was fantastic, but still the view limited by hazy conditions.
I could return here time after time and never, ever become bored. I still haven't got to anymore of the tombs than I visited previously and so many more trips are guarrenteed.

Although this site covers many sites it is especially informative on the main Sligo sites, covering them in more detail than I am able to.
