Fans of 'Star Wars' won't be disappointed, but the four discs of 'Lord of the Rings' hold superb extras. Their respective films, "Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones" and "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," are fantasies filled with otherworldly creatures, exploring age-old themes of good and evil. Both directors use cutting-edge digital technology to bring their colorful universes to life, and both tapped veteran actor Christopher Lee to play the bad guy. [More]

Reviews: 'Ring' DVD, 'Clones' video

11/13/02, 12:51 am EST - Xoanon

(Entertainment Weekly) -- Let's pretend, for a moment, that ''The Fellowship of the Ring'' is a person. This past August, when Mr. ''Fellowship'' premiered on DVD, he was in bathing-suit shape, coming in at a lean, theatrical 178 minutes. But now that he can hide under bulky sweaters and big winter coats, "Fellowship"'s put on an extra half an hour, and he's fat and happy. It's as if ''The Fellowship of the Ring'' doesn't have to suck in its gut anymore. [More]

Upon further query to the distraught hobbit, it seems that their local store had indeed sold out of all copies of the extended edition, both regular and collector's versions! So if you are in the Los Angeles area, you may have to do a bit of hunting for a copy. Good Luck!

Celeborn Unplugged

11/11/02, 5:20 pm EST - Xoanon

Every now and then, someone asks me to speak up for Celeborn. He is, perhaps, the most maligned and misunderstood of Tolkien's characters. Many people consider the silver-haired Lord of Lorien to be oafish or even foolish. Why? Basically because of one sentence uttered by Galadriel. [More]
