Takaka Set News

9/11/00, 7:45 pm EST - Xoanon

From: Laron

My first cousin has been flying the film crew of Lord of the Rings around when they were filming around Takaka, Golden Bay. He had to keep up with the horses when they were filming from the chopper, he also flew a few Dwarfs around. There was one passenger that was 7ft tall he mentioned.

There were some very narrow valleys which he had to fly down while they filmed from the helicopter, he knew the area well so that was probably why he was chosen for the job.

Other family members have said there have been a lot of film crew around the streets in Takaka it self. And one mentioned a few hobbits having hairy legs as well as big feet, not much information about where they were spotted.

Of course they have now officially left Takaka, from what I have read they say they are not coming back for any more filming but from a few others things I have read, I think they will be eventually.

Media Watch: Film Guide Denmark

9/11/00, 7:41 pm EST - Xoanon

From: Torper

I have just seen the "X-men"- movie (where our own McKellen surely does a splendid job). On my way to see the movie I found the magasin called "Film Guide" (which is a free magasin for movie-goers here in Denmark), and I saw to my excitment that they had a two pages long article about "Lord of the Rings".

The article is called "Hobbitterne lever" - "The Hobbits live" and in short terms it describes all the fuzz about the books, when they were published in 1950's and which influence they had on a various people. Also, off course, it tells us about the movie project. It does not really contain any new information - it just shows that the word indeed is out here in Denmark - almost one and a half year before the movie will hit the big screen. Wow!

Thanks for a great site - "Keep the Energy Flowing!"

Angela Dotchin in LOTR: 'no truth to this rumor'

9/10/00, 7:33 pm EST - Xoanon

TheOneRing.net was recently contacted by Angela Dotchin's manager, this is what she had to say:

At this stage there is no truth to this rumor. We are in discussion over a number of international projects for Angie at the moment but nothing that can be confirmed to date. Should this become a fact in future, I will let you know.

They seem to be 'in talks' perhaps, on the other hand this could be a fanboy's pipe dream. Time will tell!

Noble IS Denethor! -UPDATE-

9/07/00, 9:42 am EST - Xoanon

Harry from AICN is reporting that Aussie actor John Noble will play Denethor, Dunedain lord of Gondor, and father to Boromir and Faramir.

The name John Noble appeared on my radar screens almost a year ago, a nameless emailer sent me a very cryptic letter along the lines of 'John Noble will be in LOTR', after all my digging I came up with naught, so I never posted it. And considering that I get emails everyday with '(insert your favorite actor here) will be in LOTR', so I forgot about it :)

Click here for a TON of info regarding John Noble (Denethor), with a promise of pics coming soon! [More]

Only 2 Days Left!

9/05/00, 2:54 pm EST - Quickbeam

Greetings -- Quickbeam here.

It is the most challenging Brain Bender Contest we've ever had-- and the grand prize is a beautiful 'Lord of The Rings' British Millennium Edition (with a CD of Professor Tolkien reading poems and songs). I must admit that I delight in the complaints that the questions are too hard. What did you expect; the Regis Philbin school of watered-down Tolkien trivia? No, my little goslings, this is going to take some effort!

Please note the deadline for entries is quickly approaching: Thursday night, 7 September 2000. Join the fun by clicking here.

Much too hasty,
Quickbeam
