In 1989, to mark the tenth anniversary of Airey Neave’s
death, a fresh appeal was made, primarily to those who had given
generously in 1979. A further appeal was launched in 1997. Both
were successful and increased the Trust’s capital base considerably.
Fund-raising events have been the organisation of a race evening
in the City of London every year for the past seventeen years,
which have raised over £150,000; a concert in St John’s,
Smith Square, in 1996, two Quiz Nights, one in the Duke of York’s
HQ, and the other in the Imperial War Museum in 1999, all three
again making substantial profits for the work of the Trust.
Appeal
Income from the Trust’s investments, which
stand at about £650,000,
is inadequate to meet the Trust’s present commitments,
let alone expand its efforts.
In order to launch new research initiatives, substantial additional
funds are required, and any help would be gratefully received.
