"The Saint Peter and the Vatican: The Legacy of the Popes" exhibition, which opened February 4 at the Milwaukee Public Museum, features more than 300 objects that chronicle the history of the Roman Catholic faith.
The Mandylion of Edessa, considered to be the oldest representation of Jesus Christ, is one of the featured objects of the exhibit. A personally-signed letter from Pope John Paul II welcomes visitors to the exhibition. Fittingly, one of the final pieces in the exhibition is a bronze cast of Pope John Paul's hands, which more than one million people have touched in the exhibit's other stops.
