Middle adulthood is often associated with crisis as the transition to midlife can be a difficult one, fraught with physical, relational, professional and psychological changes. But in our careers, it can also be a time of mystery and satisfaction. We all know persons who gain immense satisfaction from their work. To be a master can mean to be a leader, skilled specialist or an original. It means moving beyond ambition and success as the primary drivers of our working lives. In the very busy lives of “the master” how does one respond to the pressures of family, elder parents, Church, community and job? What gives all of this focus?
February's meeting is the second in a three-part series "The Seasons of Our Work: From Apprentice through Master to Elder." The series has been designed to prepare Catholics to deal with changes in their lives, but also to be good friends and spiritual companions to all we encounter who dealing with the difficulties of change in work and professional lives. |
