I was totally taken aback by this beautiful stone. Measuring some 1.9m long and 1m at its widest it has 5 cups with single rings, 6 cups on their own, 1 cup with 2 concentric rings and 1 more with 3 concentric rings. These are now all fading and I was told that they were much bolder when the stone was unearthed. I feel this must have come from a tomb. Sadly, one corner has been broken off. There is one other rock nearby that has a very faint (and only possible) cup and rings on it.
There are several other possible sites very close to this one.
The landowners are a wonderful family extending much hospitality to me and even driving across the farm to see some items. They live at Wicklow Way Lodge and operate a B&B.; If the generosity they showed me is any indication of the treatment guests get then it must be a great place to stay. The scenery in this area is beautiful.
