From Downpatrick take the B1 south east and turn left after the hospital. About 400m after the first right hand turn is a driveway signposted Struell Wells. Follow this to the car park.

There are actually two wells here - one said to cure eye problems and the other stomach ailments. Both are of the covered type popular, but now rare in this area.
The wells stand between a church ruin and a victorian bath house. The bath house is a wonderful structure. The main building houses the male changing room to the front and the male bath - a plunge pool with steps down and a wonderful spout of water gushing into it. To the rear is the womens changing room and in a small separate building is the womens' bath. This was too flooded to see any real detail.
The stomach well has a beautiful little cross slab built into the renovated walls, which probably came from the same early church that two window mouldings that are integrated into a nearby wall.
