Inflation takes a break
Energy prices credited for easing in February
WASHINGTON -- After posting a big spike at the start of the year, inflation slowed sharply in February, reflecting large declines in gasoline and other fuel prices and in the cost of clothing.

The Consumer Price Index edged up 0.1 percent last month, the Labor Department reported yesterday, after a 0.7 percent surge in January that was driven by higher energy costs.

Natural-gas rates to fall in April
Columbia Gas of Ohio said yesterday it will lower naturalgas prices for customers in April, the third straight monthly decline. But heating bills still will be higher than they were in April 2005.
