On the way home I decided to make a bit of a detour and visit a couple more Longford sites. This standing stone is situated at the top of a field 200m from the road. The field was full of rather frisky cows, so I made do with taking long range zoom shots from the gate.
Judging from the size of the stone compared with a cow that was standing near to it I would guess that the stone is about 1.5m tall. From the road it looks as though it may be square in section, but I can't say for sure.
9.9km (NNE) is a portal tomb at Drumhawnagh (County Cavan). 8.2km (NW) is a portal tomb at Cleenrah or Cleenrath. 3.3km (E) is a stone circle at Cloghchurnel. 1.4km (ENE) is a standing stone at Dalystown. 6.2km (SE) is a sheela-na-gig at Abbeylara.
