24-year-old Sandi Thom broadcast live music performances from her living room in London for 21 straight days. She ended up with an audience of 100,000 people - and a record contract from RCA/SonyBMG.

Amazon.com masters online retailing, but not predicting the future
On Monday, Amazon customers received e-mails proclaiming "UCLA wins" and offering specials on various NCAA-themed products. But the NCAA men's basketball championship woudn't be played for several hours -- and UCLA would eventually be bested by Florida. Readers were probably tipped off by the line "Congratulations (placeholder for winning team)."

GEEK COMIC OF THE WEEK:
Spamusement!

The concept is simple: you know those bizarre spam subject lines -- sometimes odd, sometimes perverted, sometimes just strings of random words -- that are meant to grab your attention while evading spam filters? Well, what if each one were the caption of a single-panel cartoon? The results are sometimes crude (as of course are the subject lines themselves) but almost always side-splittingly hilarious. My personal favorites include "identify brontosaurus crockery shabby taunt" and "you were wrong cabinet sanchez".

The Geek Comic of the Week is brought to you by Josh Fruhlinger, aka the Comics Curmudgeon, who spends more time thinking about the comics than any normal adult should. Check out his comics blog at http://joshreads.com.
