Cookies

Cookies are set by a web site and are stored as text files on your computer. They are used when the web site needs to keep track of some information between pages or between visits. Your browser automatically sends their content with each request to the web site in question.

There is, at least in theory, a possibility for malicious individuals to use security holes in some browsers, by storing executable code (e.g. viruses) in a cookie. Cookies may also be used to track which web sites a person has been visiting. For those reasons, some browsers may be configured by default not to accept cookies from all web sites.

No cookies are normally used by The Autistic Cuckoo. If you post comments, however, you are offered a choice to remember your contact information, so that you don't have to enter it every time. That is completely voluntary, and there is also an option for forgetting any previously stored information. See below for more information about personal data.

Personal Information

If you post comments, you are asked to enter some voluntary contact information:

  • name or signature
  • web site address
  • email address

The name is displayed with the comment. If you have specified a web site address, the name becomes a link to your site. The email address isn't shown anywhere, to prevent it from getting into the hands of spammers. It is available to us, though, so that we can contact you if need be.

If you send us an email through the contact page, you have to specify your email address so that we can reply to you. It isn't stored anywhere, and of course we don't give it out to anyone.
