Welcome to the
EBSA
Coaching Foundation
Coaching performs a
vital role in all walks of life - in business, music,
dance, drama and, of course, sport.
Coaching occurs wherever someone is willing to share their
expertise and experience with another; combining
demonstration, explanation and advice through a planned
and structured process.
Effective Coaching helps the participant gain improvement
and thus more enjoyment in their chosen activity.

I would like to thank you
for enquiring about this course.
My main duty as Chairman
of the EBSA Coaching Foundation is to help set up a network
of qualified snooker coaches throughout Europe.
The training package you
would undertake aims to give you the tools and techniques to
be able to achieve this.
The EBSA hopes that a
Coaching Foundation in each of the member countries will
help to spread the awareness and availability of coaching
which, in turn, will promote interest and participation and
will go a long way towards cementing snooker’s future in
Europe.
This new EBSA Coaching
Foundation aims to offer a level and consistency of coaching
that is not currently available anywhere else in the world.
Accreditation to the EBSA
Coaching Foundation will prove to be something that coaches
will be proud to have achieved.

THE
OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
There
are a number of things we would like to achieve, with your
assistance, during the EBSA training course:
n Giving
you the tools and techniques required to become a snooker
coach accredited to an EBSA standard. As an applicant for
the National Level of accreditation this would include the
tools and techniques required for coaching other coaches
also
n
If you are an existing coach, adding to any existing tools
and techniques to allow you to efficiently train players
(and possibly other coaches) to an EBSA accredited standard
n
Giving you the means to be able to form a Coaching
Foundation incorporating all areas within your own country
(if required)
n
Offering you a guide of how best to administer your Coaching
Foundation (if required)

All of you who make the
effort to attempt this course will hopefully form the
nucleus of the EBSA Coaching Foundation – pioneers so to
speak.
Once
you have successfully completed the course, which will
include some intensive training, you will be offered the
opportunity to become an EBSA accredited coach.
Some of
you may be experienced coaches already. During the EBSA
course it is hoped we will learn from each other, knitting
together our ideas and methods so that we end up as a team
of coaches, rather than a group of individuals.
Our overall goal should be to offer the same
coaching from Iceland to Italy, from Holland to Hungary. A
snooker player should be able to move from one side of
Europe to the other and still expect a level of continuity
in his/her development.
In an
attempt to ensure this we will introduce a form of ongoing
assessment for all EBSA coaches. Probation periods will be
introduced and there will be a facility to withdraw EBSA
accreditation if guidelines are not being followed.
