Scoble spawns them at various events. It's a disturbing thing to watch truth be told.

IIRC you can get one if you mail them a postcard to the address found here. I may need to send another one sometime as I never got a 9 guy or a postcard back.

I didn't either... I e-mailed Scoble and he was nice enough to send me one...

Send a us postcard and we'll send you a 9. SOmetimes we get busy and the 9 delivery process gets side-tracked. We'll try and be more predictable in 2006!

Happy holidays (should you celebrate them),

How about this; when you stop having days off for the holiday then you can stop celebrating it. Until then it is a national holiday.

I wouldn't mind if you had, for example, Independence Day ... I wouldn't find that least bit insulting and think it should be celerbrated.

Be Happy,
C

I just got this as an email.  Anyone who knows me will realize I'm in the first group, but it's still quite funny:

For My Democrat Friends:

"Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, our best wishes for  an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress,non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion  of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice  not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. We also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated  recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2006, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose  contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America  in the Western Hemisphere. And without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.

By accepting these greetings you are accepting these terms. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no  alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for herself or himself or others, and  is void where prohibited by law and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual  application of good tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is  limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher."

For My Republican Friends:

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

I'd like to see any mention of 'religion' removed from that Democrat message and I also think mentions of cultural differences could fracture society, thus that too should be removed.

But other than that it is pretty good.

How many relegions are there in US ? is it MORE than the number here in India. Celebrations are a kind of get togeather and u will celebrate only when u acknowledge the people observing it. Many celebrate Diwali , the major celebration here in India and all our leaders release greating messages and this is the same for all celebrations as well. my uncle who is in US just said that he has a christmas tree in his home and he is not a christian . this over cautious approach puzzules me . And as from me Merry Christmas Everybody and Happy New Year

A small minority (in my opinion) of people actually care enough to worry about it at all.  If I say "Merry Christmas" to a Jew or Muslim or Hindu, what I mean is "hey, for me, this is a time of year where I like to be nice to people, so have a great day".  I'm not even religeous, but I was raised catholic, and catholics are kind of big on Crist.

Certain 'leaders' of persecuted religeous groups, however, have made a stink about it and to be honest, it's more funny than anything else.  The same people who weep and wail about how christmas is being attacked will purposefully antagonize those of us who like to celebrate halloween.  But, as I'm starting to learn, being a hypocrit is not a crime, it is actually a normal state of being.

To answer your question, though, I'd venture to guess that we have a sizeable number of every religeous group in the US simply because we are much younger country than most of the rest of the world.  Regardless of how the 'border closers' react, we've pretty much depended on foreign manpower for so long that I'd bet that every culture is represented in some neighborhood, somewhere in the US.

sorry ScanIAm but i cant understand what you are trying to say. What i tried to say was invite all people to your celebrations and automatically they will invite you to thier's and any problems ( such as difference in religion) vanishes in the mutual respect.

I, too, agree and wish the same.

It appeared, however, that you didn't understand what was going on, so I tried to explain.

Badly, I might add

Here in the UK we don't really get all that politically correct about calling Christmas anything other than Christmas!

Now I'm not a Christian, I'm an Atheist, I don't find it offensive for anyone to wish me a Merry Christmas, I'm sure I would even recipricate in kind. Why? Christmas is a tradition in the UK and traditions, like them or not, define our identity.

Christmas is a positive tradition that allows most people in the UK to not work and be with their family. It's nice to have one day in the year where the priority changes from work to family.

Uhh... How many cities in the UK aren't having a "Christmas celebration" this year, but instead a "Winter Celebration?" Did you see the Tonight With Trevor McDonald about said cities?

The local town does Christmas well; three public tress, lights on every post (on the highstreed, and down our main shopping street) and a sign on the cancil building that reads "Happy Christmas."

Henley is subtle, one tastfully lit tree, and pale white lights throughout the trees in the market square.

But then this is the Home Counties.
