Garden Flowers, by Bill Miller
Linoleum lives on
Ex-painter uses flooring as groundwork for bright scenes
To all the homeowners and landlords who sensibly covered their kitchen floors or any other room with linoleum: Bill Miller says thanks.

Miller, 44, of Silver Spring, Md., turns vintage linoleum into fine art.

Dance

CAPA

Two operas planned for next season
'Figaro,' 'Penzance' to be performed by touring troupes
The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts will continue its presentation of opera and operetta next season, with two productions in the Southern Theatre.

REVIEW | COLUMBUS SYMPHONY

Challenging program is pure joy
Selections include works of Mahler, Stravinksy, others
Any way you approached it, last night's Columbus Symphony Orchestra program was going to be one big night of music, with challenges in every selection: the Suite No. 2 for Small Orchestra by Stravinsky, a composer who seems to bring out the worst in this orchestra; the jazz fusion Concerto for Saxophones by Roberto Sierra, the local premiere of a complex piece only 3 years old; and then Mahler's Symphony No. 5, more than 70 minutes of twisty-turny emotional roads for a large orchestra.

THEATER REVIEW | CINDERELLA

Girls will like costumes, if nothing else
