Microsoft Remote Installation Services (RIS) is used to automatically start an operating system on a client computer. The Solution Accelerator for Business Desktop Deployment (BDD) recommends preparing the client computer for installing the final operating system by using RIS to start Microsoft Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE).
