Contest launched for logo

Halifax
The Joint Anglican Lutheran Commission is seeking submissions for a common logo to be used when the two churches participate in "full communion" events.
The idea for a logo search emerged at the first gathering of the commission, which met in mid-February in Halifax to examine how to move ahead since the Anglican Church of Canada and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada agreed at their national meetings last summer to full communion.
The agreement, entitled Called to Full Com-munion: The Waterloo Declaration, spelled out the closer ties between the two churches.
Key to the agreement were that clergy of the two denominations may move freely between the two churches and members may receive sacraments in either church.
At the February meeting, the commission worked on guidelines for common worship and arrangements for clergy serving by term appointment in the other church. The bishops and councils of each church will be asked to review these proposals at their spring meetings.
The requirements for the logo are that it be usable in both black and white and two-colour and for both print and Web use.
Submissions should be sent before June 30 to Rev. Cindy Halmarson of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada or to Canon Alyson Barnett-Cowan of the Anglican Church of Canada.
