Q: 1. What is the relationship between ChipCenter and QuestLink? Which
site shall I use?
A: ChipCenter and QuestLink are
sister sites with common ownership. One of many benefits of the site merge is
that you can get to resources of both sites. You can enter at either
www.chipcenter.com or www.questlink.com. Depending on your need, use the
editorial information provided by ChipCenter, but keep in mind that you can
easily branch off to the datasheet functions provided at QuestLink, and vice
versa.

Q: 2. Where do I register?
Q: 3. I can't register.
A: These are the common causes:
a) The e-mail address you entered is already registered in our database.
Because we permit an e-mail address as a way to login, we don’t allow the
same e-mail address to be registered twice. If you have forgotten the
password related to the e-mail address already registered, see answer to Q5
below. b) You didn't fill out all the mandatory fields. You should have seen
a page asking you for the fields. We’ve made every effort to make the
registration process simple and easy. Only the absolutely necessary fields
are included in the form as mandatory.

Q: 4. I forgot my user ID.
A: This occurs very often, as you
may have more than one user ID on different sites. To help you deal with the
situation we have also enabled login through e-mail addressing. We encourage
you to do so, as e-mail addresses are much easier to remember. Note however
that if you have multiple e-mail addresses, you have to use the one you
registered with us before.
|
Q: 5. I also forgot the e-mail address I used when registering with you.
A: In that case please e-mail to webmaster@chipcenter.com. Provide
as much information as possible to help us locate you in our database. The
first name and last name you used are essential for us to identify you.
|
Q: 6. I can't login with my password.
A: First make sure that you used
the correct e-mail address, which is the one you registered with us before.
Use the "pure" form such as "someone@somewhere.com"
(without the quotes) but NOT "Firstname
Lastnamesomeone@somewhere.com."
If you are doing a cut-and-paste of the login information, make sure
you do not cut the white spaces around the text strings. Make sure that both
the upper/lower cases are correct for your password. We have made the login
process case-insensitive to e-mail addressing, but the password has to
exactly what you chose before. This is for your protection. As a last resort,
you can always reset and receive a new password by e-mail. See answer to the
question below
|
Q: 7. I forgot my password.
A: For maximum protection, your
password is stored in an encrypted form that even our internal staff wouldn’t
be able decrypt to see the original password. However, you can have the
system reset your password and have the reset password sent via e-mail to
you. Go to this URL: http://www.chipcenter.com/signpassword.jhtml,
and fill in your e-mail address. If this e-mail address is registered in our
database, the system will reset your password and mail the new password to
the registered e-mail address. Once you log in with your new password, you
can change it to any password you prefer. See answer to the question below.
|
Q: 8. How do I change my password?
A: When you update your profile (see
question below), there is a link to change your password. Or, you can
directly go to this URL: http:///www.chipcenter.com/changepassword.jhtml.
Note that you have to be logged in to change your password.
|
Q: 9. How do I update my profile?
Q: 10. I can't update my profile.
A: Most often, this is due to an
attempt to update the e-mail address to one that is already registered in our
database. See answers to Q3 and Q11.

Q: 11. I can't change my e-mail address.
A: Most often, this is due to an
attempt to update an e-mail address to one that’s already registered in our
database. See answers to Q3 and Q10
|
Q: 12. I’m asked to log in every time I visit your site.
A: To make navigation easier for
our members, we implement an automatic login feature: if you logged into our
site once and did not specifically log out, the next time you come to our
site you will be automatically logged in, saving you the trouble of typing in
login information. However, this feature only works if you permit cookies to
be saved on your machine, and if you have JavaScript turned on in your
browser. To enable cookies and JavaScript, follow these steps:
- In
Internet Explorer: in the menu bar, select Tools->Internet
Options->Security->Custom Level. Set it to High Safety to enable
JavaScript. Then, in the Cookies section, click the radio button to
enable cookies.
- In
Netscape: in the menu bar, select Edit->Preferences->Advances,
then enable both JavaScript and Cookies.

Q: 13. I'd like to find a datasheet.
A: To find a datasheet please go
to http://www.chipcenter.com/questlink and follow
the features presented there. Please note that you need to be logged in to
see a final datasheet. We have more than 200,000 datasheets and the number is
growing. Naturally, we cannot possibly have all datasheets. If you can’t find
the datasheet or datasheets you’re looking for, please either go to the
manufacturer's Web site, or send e-mail to chips-edit@chipcenter.com and one
of our able experts or editors will try to help you.
|
Q: 14. Your datasheet link is broken.
A: What we provide are URLs
leading to datasheets hosted by manufacturers. If a manufacturer moves its
datasheets without notifying us, the links to those datasheets will be
broken. We are building a process to discover those broken links and replace
them with good ones. In the meantime, please report the broken links to us
and encourage manufacturers to contact us regarding their datasheet
relocation.
