Subject: Fair and Balanced in Fantasy Fox News Land

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u;=/nm/20030812/people_nm/television_fox_dc_2

I don't know which is more ludicrous: the lawsuit or the conservative-pandering Fox News motto of being "fair and balanced".

The lawsuit has no merit. I hope Fox wins it. :)

Franken's selling more than Harry Potter, as a result.

He'd win that suit, too. I've been trying to broaden my news horizons and see both sides of things lately, so I've taken up the burden of watching some Fox News. Jesus...not even the FACADE of impartiality! Horrible stuff--somewhere the Yellow Journalists of the penny-dreadfuls are smiling, but they're the only ones.

Laurie, just as soon as I hear you log a similar complaint about ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, and NPR, I'll take you seriously.

I'll step to the fore--all those aforementioned "news networks" are also a load of corporate hacks.

But good liberal hacks, at least. :)

Of these, only NPR is remotely liberal, and then only in the "New Democrat" way, which is so outdated it's reactionary...therefore not liberal.

Yeah, I know you won't agree, it doesn't fit the "conservatives are a minority" program. What a "maverick".

Not sure what you mean there.... I never said conservatives were a minority. ;)

Looks like Franken prevails -- and the toe-the-line-Bushie Fox News is made a fucking laughingstock:

My favorite part:

"In addition to thanking my own lawyers," Franken said after the ruling, "I'd like to thank Fox's lawyers for filing one of the stupidest briefs I've ever seen in my life."

Hoo-ah!

Someone should sue Fox new for their false claims in advertising, i.e. 'Fair and Balanced', and ESPECIALLY Mr. Pinhead, er, Mr. O'Reilly, with his 'No Spin Zone' - there's nothing that comes out of that man's mouth that ISN'T spin. Maybe Fox news exists in a bizarre universe of opposites, where everything means the opposite of what it's supposed to?

I think that Fox is just there as the extreme and obvious example of conservative spin, so that the more subtle spin on the rest of the networks doesn't look so obvious. <grin;>
