Learning and Leading with Technology
Welcome to NECC 2007! Mark your calendars, budget, and plan now for the 28th annual National Educational Computing Conference. Join more than 18,000 teachers, technology coordinators, library media specialists, teacher educators, administrators, policy makers, industry representatives, and students from all over the world who'll gather June 24–27 at the Georgia World Congress Center in the heart of Downtown Atlanta.
Our purpose? To help shape the future of education. How? By bringing together the best Ed Tech has to offer. NECC 2007 is seeking session proposals in a variety of program formats that
- highlight promising practices for leadership and school transformation
- showcase the impact of 21st-century learning environments and virtual schools
- demonstrate the impact of technology on student achievement and school improvement
- emphasize the ethics and equity issues involved in all these topics
This year we're especially interested in proposals that focus on technology's role in developing 21st-century learners. What's our collective 2020 vision? How do we carry that vision forward into reality? Can we develop an intentional course toward that better future? We invite proposals that address these questions through the lens of
- leadership skills
- student skills and knowledge
- emerging technologies and learning environments
Greater opportunities for all 21st-century learners—let's keep our eyes on that prize as we explore educational horizons and discover together a better future. Complete details on submitting a proposal will be available September 5, 2006.
See you in Atlanta!

The juried portion of the conference program covers the breadth and depth of the educational technology field:
- from developing and articulating a vision of the role of technology in school improvement to implementing the technology infrastructure,
- from learning about technology to integrating technology into the curriculum,
- and the ethics and equity issues involved in all of these topics.
Educators and students at all levels, nationally and internationally, are invited to submit proposals. We also welcome corporate-sponsored sessions from exhibitors.
Proposal submissions are reviewed by independent committees of content experts, and evaluations are based primarily on:
- relevancy of topic to the field of educational technology
- educational significance and contribution to the respective theme and strand
- degree to which higher/second-order applications of technology are addressed
- ease of replication
- value to participants
- presenter knowledge and experience
Multiple proposals may be submitted, but typically only one presentation per person is accepted. Presenters are required to register for the conference and pay the registration fee.
