In this world of Suchness
there is neither self nor other than self.

To come directly into harmony with this reality
just simply say when doubt arises: not two!
In this not two nothing is separate,
nothing is excluded.

from Verses on the Faith Mind, by Sengstan, Third Zen Patriarch.

In this continuum, this not two, everything changes, nothing endures, not even me...

Clinging to these passing phenomena creates suffering.

The way out of this suffering, I think, is to live skillfully in the present, keeping guard over the senses, trying to make carefull and well informed choices while holding each other's hand.

When we succeed in doing this we enjoy every miraculous moment of this extraordinary experience called life and there is no need to look for any esoteric explanations anywhere else. :

The snail as heraldic animal can be taken as a symbol of the changing nature of things with its ability to appear and disappear flowing with conditions as it finds them, estivating or hibernating as necessary. When it retires into its shell it seems to close the doors of perception and become centered. Being a nocturnal creature it can be said to be a moon animal, representing both the unconscious and the darker side of the psyche which has to be integrated into the personality in order to be complete, or in other words, sane. It embodies the male and the female in the same individual and therefore it stands also for wholeness. Finally the snail is very prolific, thus reflecting the unstoppable creativity of the artist.

This is why I have made the Snail my own device and I sign my work with a spiral.

Now just follow the Snail trails...

 .

Happy surfing!
