What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an XML standard that provides a simple way for Web sites and blogs to syndicate news and information to their readers. An RSS feed provides a list of recent content posted to a Web site, with links to each new page. By subscribing to an RSS feed, you're automatically notified whenever new content that's of interest to you is posted.

Subscribing to RSS News Feeds

To "subscribe" to an RSS feed, you'll need to install RSS News reader software. Once you've subscribed, the RSS reader periodically checks the feed to see if any new content has been posted. The reader then retrieves any new news added to the feed. The Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) Web site has an overview of RSS technology and links to a few RSS readers you can use to read RSS feeds.

Other subscription options: PressPass E-Newsletter

PressPass also offers an e-newsletter, which is sent biweekly to subscribers and provides a summary of recent Top Stories published on Microsoft PressPass.
