Creating Management Packs

Creating your own management packs allows you to use Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) to capture and monitor internal data and operational best practices for your applications that operate side-by-side with other management packs from Microsoft and other third-party vendors.

Use the following links to create your own management packs for use with Microsoft Management technologies:

	MOM 2005 Management Pack Development Guide This guide provides information about developing MOM 2005 management packs and is specifically focused on features new to MOM 2005 that affect management pack development.

	MOM SP1 Management Pack Development Guide This guide provides information about developing Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1) management packs. Topics include MOM architecture, how management packs work, and how to plan and develop custom management packs.

	MOM SDK The MOM Software Development Kit (SDK) is written, in part, for administrators who want to create and distribute a MOM management pack. See the Using MOM section for information about creating management packs.

	SMS 2003 SDK Download the software development kit (SDK), which contains documentation and sample applications for developing SMS 2003 applications that integrate with, or use, the SMS Administrator console, SMS Provider (server-side applications), and client-side applications.
