So how can you save from Outlook email to Sharepoint directly?

So I have these attachments that I wanted to dump straight into Sharepoint..but they were email attachments in Outlook...so...I asked the gang and Javier said.....

Save it to Sharepoint just like you would save it from any other application.

Right-click on the attachment-> Save As-> type
http://companyweb (or https://whatever.company.com:444 if you are doing it externally) on the file name to open the sharepoint site and select the folder you want.

Of course, if you plan to do it more than 1 time-> Either add the folder to Network Places or create a drive letter for Sharepoint.

and then he said....

By the way...

Since the day I learned from Chad that I could access

Sharepoint as if it was share or drive letter my VPN usage

has hit an all time low.

In fact, for the most part I'm not even VPN to clients anymore :-) -Javier
Cool!

How is that accomplished?

Means you can save and or open stuff from your sharepoint website from anywhere if you have it allowed access to it from the outside.

Note: gotta have Office 2003 Professional for this to work. I don't think that small business edition works and I know that basic edition doesn't.

Amy,

I don't think this is an Office feature, more like Windows. It should work from any application that has access to a share (via Network Places).

I think you may be reffering to the collaboration features in 2k3 (which *might* differ between versions).

Pretty slick! But it brings up a question is there a way to move a message from Outlook to a Sharepoint Discussion group? I make heavy use of Public Folders moving messages to specific client folders among other things. I'd love to be able to move these directly to a Sharepoint Discussion Group so that I could keep all my related data together in one spot.

I am not able to map a network drive to my sharepoint site using https://server.domain.com:444. I get an immediate response that the network path can not be found.

Interesting issues so far. But I hav one mor question:
When I save an attachment out of Outlook 2003 directly in sharepoint is it possible to start the dialog for editing custom columns that must be filled in such as documentcategorie, theme or catchwords.

Thanks in advance
