Deployment Process - Zero Touch Installation: Step 2

Deployment Process

Create a database containing the necessary configuration settings used to automate the Windows XP deployment.

ZTI includes a database that contains the configuration settings required to automate the deployment of Windows XP. Examples of these settings include the following:

 Computer name

 Operating system image to install

SMS distribution point to use for installation

 Network configuration

Storage location for user profile migration information

All of the configuration settings must be defined to support a fully automated deployment. The configuration settings must be entered into the database that ZTI uses.

The Solution Accelerator for BDD prescribes how to specify the configuration settings to fully automate the deployment process while requiring the least amount of administrative effort. Solution Accelerator for BDD also provides best practices learned in actual field experience from using BDD in large-scale deployments.

Standard Edition

Only the Solution Accelerator for BDD Enterprise Edition supports ZTI, so there are no Standard Edition tools and technologies.

Enterprise Edition

Provides guidance and job aids creating the database that contains the necessary configuration settings.
