Watch / Listen

Local Television is a trial service in the West Midlands. In order to receive the service you will require digital satellite or an internet connection. You can find a quick guide to accessing the service on Digital Satellite and the Internet below.

Local TV on Digital Satellite

Here is a quick guide to how to receive Local TV if you have a satellite dish:

  • Tune into BBC ONE
  • Press Red
  • Select Local TV from the menu or go to page 1700 using your handset

    On the left hand side of the screen you will see the Local TV video

    The video runs to the following schedule every hour, 24 hours a day:

    • HH:00 - Birmingham
    • HH:10 - Coventry and Warwickshire
    • HH:20 - Hereford and Worcester
    • HH:30 - Black Country
    • HH:40 - Shropshire
    • HH:50 - Staffordshire

    You can make the video go full screen at any point by pressing the green button

    On the right hand side of the screen you will see the text service, you can access this 24 hours a day

  • Select a location from the menu

    You can then select the latest news, sport, travel, weather and entertainment.

    Press backup at any point to go back to the previous screen

Here is a quick guide to Local TV on the Internet.

In order to access Local TV you will need:

  • A computer that you can listen to audio on
  • A connection to the Internet (broadband recommended)
  • An up to date internet browser that supports javascript (e.g. Internet Explorer or Firefox)
  • Windows Media Player or Real Player installed on your computer. Help and advice on installing these programmes

Assuming you have all of the following, click on one of the following locations and you should see the Local TV Console similar to this:

To view the latest 10 minute programme for your area select "Latest Local Bulletin in Video" from the bottom right hand corner of the console.

Alternatively, you can watch the latest individual stories by clicking on the headline on the right hand menu.
