Bill Gates recently addressed the annual CIO conference with a presentation about "The New World of Work".

Now, I'm normally as cynical as anyone about the latest stream of buzzwords that heralds the imminent arrival of an exciting future where all our troubles will disappear thanks to some new-fangled technology breakthrough. But having read some of the discussion points and white papers, I'm really quite excited. We're at an exciting point right now. Hardware has evolved so much that software can finally start to do the things we've always dreamt of. Some of the pattern recognition and adaptive filtering technologies that ordinary computer users will be able to use a few years from now will finally allow software to start having the awareness of a human being. It's going to take a while to get to where we'd like to be but the journey has begun.

Take a read through some of the information that Bill has been sharing. Working in our fast-moving high-stress world of work today can sometimes feel more challenging than rewarding. It's exciting that software is now in a position to step up to the challenge to help rid us of 'information overload' and empower us to work in new ways to bring more control back to our busy lives. Inspirational stuff! Let me know what you think.
