Windows Messenger 5.1 Planning and Deployment Guide

If you're trying to find out how to set up and deploy the new Windows Messenger client, have a look at this deployment guide which was released to the web yesterday.  There is a discussion on spim prevention (unsolicited IM's), prevention of file transfers where the files aren't considered to be safe, or contain viruses, and how to set Group Policies to enable audio, video and data collaboration encryption.  The guide should be read in conjunction with the Live Communications Server 2005 deployment resource guides.

Very nice post..

But that is not exactly what I am looking for.

I have noticed that MSN launch a Web instant messager which can be found at http://webmessenger.msn.com. According to my research, HTTP is "disconnected connection", it means that after server response, the connection will be cut. I do not understand how can it possible to have a instant messenger purely based on WEB without installing any active x.

I love to write a web messenger, does some one reading this post understand how msn did it and how can I do the same???

My email is zguoqi at hotmail dot com, thanks in advanced.

check the MSDN documentation on Windows messenger at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/winmessenger/winmessenger/reference/messengeruasdk/objects/messenger.asp which you could use as a start point to integrate with your front end web application.
