Pieter is senior vice president of the Mobile and Embedded Devices Division and Communications Sector Business (MED & CS) at Microsoft Corp. He is responsible for the development, marketing, and sales of software that powers a wide variety of devices such as mobile phones, personal digital assistants, portable media players, televisions, and devices in cars.

JW Hedgehog, Inc. is a New Hampshire-based consulting firm specializing in solutions for the Windows and Windows Mobile platforms. Jim has worked extensively with the .NET Framework and .NET Compact Framework since the original beta release of each. Jim writes frequently for MSDN and has developed mobility curriculums for two of the industry's leading technology training organizations, DevelopMentor and PluralSight. Darren Schaffer

Primary .NET Architect, Connected Innovation

 

Darren Shaffer is a Microsoft MVP for the .NET Compact Framework and Principal .NET Mobile Solutions Architect at Connected Innovation. Darren has over 15 years experience in software engineering, delivering enterprise solutions for Fortune 100 companies such as Wal-Mart, JD Edwards, Frontier Airlines, Dynegy, and Thomson Healthcare. Since the birth of the .NET Compact Framework, Darren has designed and delivered 20+ CF solutions to companies worldwide.

 

Darren frequently speaks and writes for Microsoft, emphasizing the importance of the .NET Compact Framework, SQL Server CE, MapPoint Web Service, and teaching mobility best practices. Darren is a 1989 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He is currently writing the SQL Mobile chapter in the upcoming "SQL Server 2005 Bible" for Wiley Press.

 

Maarten Struys

Windows Embedded Product Manager, PTS Software BV

 

Maarten Struys is responsible for the Real-Time and Embedded Competence Centre at PTS Software. Maarten is an experienced Windows developer, having worked with Windows CE since its introduction. He is a well-known speaker at European and U.S. conferences like Tech*ED, and hosts MSDN Webcasts on a regular basis, covering topics like multi-threading and real-time behavior of the .NET Compact Framework.

 

Maarten is also a freelance journalist who writes for the two leading magazines about embedded systems development in the Netherlands. One of his articles (co-written with Michel Verhagen) on real-time behavior of the .NET Compact Framework won the prestigious Microsoft WinHEC 2003 whitepaper award. Maarten is a frequent contributor to the Microsoft embedded newsgroups and member of the www.opennetcf.org advisory board.
