ISTE Awards Gala
Monday, 7–9 pm, Room 201B   add to planner

Please join us in honoring the 2005 winners of ISTE's annual educational technology awards. The exemplary recipients of these awards have demonstrated excellence and innovation in the effective use of technology. The gala event includes award presentations followed by an opportunity to meet and greet the winners. Light refreshments will be served.

 *   2005 ISTE Outstanding Teacher Award recognizes and honors a classroom teacher who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in implementing technology to improve education. Winners are selected from nominations submitted by ISTE Affiliate organizations. Congratulations, Donna Roberts, Secondary Mathematics Teacher, Liverpool Central School District, Liverpool, New York–nominated by New York State Association for Computers and Technology in Education (NYSCATE).

 *   2005 ISTE Outstanding Leader Award recognizes and honors a leader who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in implementing technology to improve education. Winners are selected from nominations submitted by ISTE Affiliate organizations. Congratulations, Joe Hairston, Superintendent of Schools, Baltimore County Public Schools, Towson, Maryland—nominated by Maryland Instructional Computer Coordinators Association (MICCA).

ISTE Outstanding Teacher and Leader Awards presented at Opening Keynote, Monday, 5:45–7 pm.

 *   The Sylvia Charp Award for District Innovation in Technology, sponsored by T.H.E. Journal, Inc., and ISTE, recognizes a school district that has demonstrated consistent effectiveness and innovation in the application of technology districtwide. Congratulations to Kiel Area School District, Kiel, Wisconsin.

 *   Kay L. Bitter Vision Award for Excellence in Technology-Based Pre-kindergarten Education, sponsored by ISTE, recognizes a pre-kindergarten educator who has demonstrated the most vision and creativity in a project or program that effectively integrates technology into their classroom and/or school. Congratulations to Laura Eaton Sam, Pre-kindergarten Lead Teacher, Sandwich Community Unit School District #430, Sandwich, Illinois.

 *   2005 SIGTel Online Learning Award, sponsored by ISTE SIGTel, recognizes creative educators for their pioneering use of telecommunication activities to provide innovative learning opportunities for students in Grades K–16. Congratulations to all winners! Winners will be presenting poster sessions throughout the conference.

 *   2005 SIGTE Research Paper Award, sponsored by ISTE SIGTE, will be announced at the SIGTE Business Meeting. The winning author will also present the paper at a special SIGTE-sponsored session on Wednesday, 11 am–12 noon, Room 112B.
