There are only two ways to get in NME.COM's 10th Birthday bash. Either be in a really good new band, or find one! Post your tunes and let people know you're out there. The bands with the most votes stand a chance of playing KOKO with Kasabian. If you're a music fan then vote for your favourite act - the 150 people who back the winning band will get two VIP tickets to the party.

James Jam New Music Editor, NME
NME New Music Editor James Jam began his obsession with new music as a teenager, sneaking out of his bedroom window after dark to catch emerging talent in seedy Doncaster dives and writing page after page of giddy pop prose in his fanzine, Boyeater. Later, upon arriving at university in Sunderland he expanded the title to put on regular club nights, radio shows, and bizarrely, cake-baking evenings, hosting shows by a fledgling Futureheads and working tirelessly to bring the northeast underground and overground into the bosom of the wider populace. In 2001 he started writing for, 'his favourite magazine ever'. James has been NME New Music Editor since early 2006.

The Shortlist
At last! We could have a cheesy drumroll, but it's far more important than that. Over the last four exciting months new and exciting bands have been putting up their music on NME.COM and you have been voting in your droves. Only one band can open at NME.COM's 10th Birthday Party supporting CSS and Kasabian - one of these 20 that you voted for.
And now? Well, now it's all in the hands of NME.COM's brilliant panel. They'll be listening, listening some more and then arguing for all their worth. Only one band will make it through. You'll find out who on Tuesday 5th September.
